Jamie Rohrs, his fiancé Patricia Legarreta, and children were invited to attend the church of Jarell Brook’s parents. The family survived the Dark Knight shooting massacre that claimed the lives of 12 people and left 58 injured.

Rorhrs was overcome with emotion during the service.

Jeffrey Brooks, Jarrell’s father and pastor of New Life Worship Center, told his 40-member congregation he doesn’t “know how long it’ll take for the hurt and pain to end.”

“But what I do know is if you put your trusts in God, everything will be alright,” he said.

Clutching his 4-month-old son Ethan, Rohrs broke down in tears as hugged Jarell’s mother Deidre Brooks.

An emotional Rohrs told ABC News he enjoyed the service.

“It felt really good to just hear encouraging words from the pastor and it’s a blessing just to be able to praise God,” he said.
