Rakim Says Dr. Dre Pressured Him To Record Violent Music

A planned epic collaboration between two prominent Hip Hop fixtures Rakim and Dr. Dre will remain a mere fantasy.

The union never materialized due to creative differences. Rakim attributed the failed music relationship to Dre’s insistence that he record violent records.

“Dre’s formula like the way he do what he do, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Rakim told Drea O. “That’s what he been doing since the beginning of his career. We couldn’t get on the same page. Once we started working, we realized how different we was. Dre is like a movie director. He’s like ‘More blood! More blood!’ That’s his formula. He stuck to it for a while. I heard a couple records he done recently, it sound like he getting a little more conscious with his words and embracing his age. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t hook up and try to get on the same page. It’s no bridges burned.”
