Before Trayvon Martin’s untimely death, the Miami, FL teen expressed interest in Aviation. Martin, an 11th grade student at Dr. Crop High School in Miami, had goals of higher education after high school.

The president of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University has resigned amid a hazing scandal resulting from the death of marching band member Robert Champion.

Suspects in the Florida A&M University band member Robert Champion hazing homicide case are expected to be charged. At least five separate cases reportedly have been prepared.

Nick Young, 22, graduates Saturday, April 28 from Florida A&M with a bachelors degree in social work and a 3.35 grade point average. But the man who was once known as “Baby Sam” in South Florida had rough beginnings. A newborn with his umbilical cord still attached, Young was left to die in a Martin County orange grove near an anthill.

Florida A&M Marching 100 member Robert Champion succumbed to hazing in late November of last year. The 26-year-old was found unresponsive on a bus following a football game after suffering internal bleeding caused by being struck repeatedly.There is currently an ongoing investigation on the circumstances surrounding his death. It is nearing 5 months since he has died and there are still no arrests.

Hazing at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University was never an isolated incident with the Robert Champion case. It has been a continuous problem at the university, according to hundreds of pages of records obtained by The Associated Press and Tallahassee Democrat.

Obesity has become a major issue in America. About 35.7 percent of U.S. adults are obese and 17 percent of children and adolescents are obese, according to a Center for Disease and Control report.

The death of an unarmed 17-year-old boy by a neighborhood watchman has called colleges across the nation to action. Florida A&M held a protest to denounce the action actions of George Zimmerman and the Sanford Police Department.

FAMU Board of Trustees voted not to suspend president Dr. James Ammons, despite strong opposition from Gov. Rick Scott.

Florida A&M band member Bria Shante Hunter was beaten in a suspected hazing ritual that left her with a broken thigh, according to the Associated Press.  The beatings, authorities said, took place on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Florida A&M University dismissed four students who are believe to have played a role in Robert Champion’s Death. University President James Ammons released a memo to the university’s Board of Trustees.
